School Name: Edith Cavell

Project Name: Engaging Students and Increasing a Sense of Belonging in their Community through a Partnership with Resurgo Place Museum

  • Our school will partner with a local museum, Resurgo Place, to provide an opportunity for students to develop a greater sense of belonging and connectedness within the school and local community.

  • Middle school students will visit the local museum and learn about the local history/ community.

  • While all students will be invited, our English Language Learners will be encouraged to participate as well. After the visit, students will pick one area to learn more about and become an expert in that subject.

  • Students will prepare a presentation in English and in the language that they speak at home (if applicable).

  • Students will present their findings at a culminating event to their families, chosen friends, and community – this will be a multilingual event.

  • This event, and the process of learning about the community will drive a sense of belonging to Moncton, not only for the students involved but also for their families
