Project Name: Wheels of Diversity
Students will engage in a personalized, self-lead study of diversity in their schools, and communities during their English Language Arts classrooms.
Using the diversity information they have gathered, the will engage in a hands-on Project Based Learning Task entitled “Wheels of Diversity.”
They will have 40 instructional days to build a personalized longboard or skateboard.
Students will visually represent their diversity passion projects directly on their boards. The goal is to deepen their communities’ understanding of cultural awareness, diversity, and inclusion.
Students will then host a cultural diversity event inviting the greater community to the Riverview Indoor Skate Park.
In the safe and welcoming celebration, students will have their boards on display and in use to showcase how much they value diversity.
