Project Name: Wheels of Diversity

  • Students will engage in a personalized, self-lead study of diversity in their schools, and communities during their English Language Arts classrooms.

  • Using the diversity information they have gathered, the will engage in a hands-on Project Based Learning Task entitled “Wheels of Diversity.”

  • They will have 40 instructional days to build a personalized longboard or skateboard.

  • Students will visually represent their diversity passion projects directly on their boards.The goal is to deepen their communities’ understanding of cultural awareness, diversity, and inclusion.

  • Students will then host a cultural diversity event inviting the greater community to the Riverview Indoor Skate Park.

  • In the safe and welcoming celebration, students will have their boards on display and in use to showcase how much they value diversity.
